In
2002 and early 2003, Disney MGM Studios has been transformed
into the Gateway to the 100 Years of Magic Celebration,
the centerpiece of which is a huge 120-foot Sorcerer Mickey
hat, built at the very end of the entry plaza, outside the
Great Movie Ride attraction.
Disney
MGM Studios was built in 1989, and with so many features
and attractions added over the years - it's a firm family
favorite for visitors to Orlando.
 Disney MGM Studios offers lots to see and do. It's definitely
a full-day experience, so plan your visit accordingly!
Whatever else you do when visiting MGM Studios park - don't
miss out on the thrill rides. There are 4 to choose from
- including the fabulous Twilight Zone Tower of Terror II.
On
this remarkable ride, you are welcomed by 'bell-hops' dressed
in their uniforms, and taken through the past history of
the Hollywood Tower Hotel, now dilapidated and abandoned.
You
enter the lift to take a journey....but it doesn't just
go up like a normal lift....it takes a detour before going
back on its journey to the top of the hotel. Suddenly the
'doors' of the lift open, and you gaze out over a stunning
vista of Florida in front of you....before plummeting 13
floors down!
Disney MGM Studios open daily from 9:00am. Closing times
vary dependant on season and special events - but expect
the park to stay open until at least 7:00pm each evening
(sometimes as late as 10:00pm).
Yet another 'giant' park from Disney - so be sure to wear
comfortable shoes and take some sun-block with you. We recommend
that you also use the lockers (located near the entrance/exit)
which will make it easier for you to enjoy the park.
Arrive as early as you can as many rides have BIG lines
during busy times. The one's that get really busy are Tower
of Terror, Muppet 3D, The Great Movie Ride and Rock 'n'
Roller Coaster.
We recommend that all guests use the FASTPASS machines to
plan their times on the 2 or 3 rides at Disney MGM. If you
want to avoid the majority of the crowds, without using
the FASTPASS machines, then get to the park early, work
out which rides you want to see most, and then plan a time
to see them when most guests are having their lunch at the
park (between 12 noon and 2:00pm). Another tip worth trying
is to travel around the park anti-clockwise - you'll see
what we mean when you get there, and most guests travel
in a clockwise direction!
Travel on Highway 192 to the Disney World Drive exit, and
then follow signs on World Drive to Disney MGM Studios
Check out the tip board first thing. There's one near
to the entrance (ask where it is). Here you can plan you
day be finding the waiting times for popular attractions/rides,
the times for that day's parades and shows, and which
(if any) rides are closed.
Most attractions, restaurants, shops and shows are fully
accessible to guests using wheelchairs and walking assistance
devices. Additional services are available for guests
with visual or hearing disabilities.

All-day parking for up to 6,000 vehicles at Disney's MGM
Studios costs $6 for day visitors. Transportation from
the parking lot to the theme park entrance is provided
as with the other Disney theme parks in the form of free
trams, which run every few minutes.
Tickets are available at discounted prices through Disney
Villa.
